Stark Library is honored to announce a $10,000 gift from the Carnegie Corporation of New York in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
This gift recognizes the historic Canton Public Library, opened in 1905 as one of 104 Carnegie Libraries built in Ohio, and celebrates Andrew Carnegie’s vision of libraries as a cornerstone for learning and community connection. Designed by local architect Guy Tilden in the Beaux Arts Classical style, the building remains a cherished historic landmark in Canton.
The generous gift will help support the construction of the new Main Library, ensuring that Carnegie’s vision of lifelong learning and community connection continues for generations to come.
As Carnegie said, “A library outranks any other one thing a community can do to benefit its people. It is a never-failing spring in the desert."
