Spread Kindness with One Book, One Community

News Release
What brings us together as a community? Kindness, of course. That’s why this year’s One Book, One Community selection is perfect! Each year, we come together as a community to read a common book and enjoy events and discussions about it. This year’s selection is I’m Proud of You: My Friendship with Fred Rogers by Tim Madigan.

In a journalism career spanning more than three decades, Tim has written for the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Politico, Reader's Digest, and for thirty years the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. It was a 1995 assignment for the Star-Telegram that led to Tim's interview with Fred Rogers, the icon of children's television, and a close friendship between the two men that lasted until Rogers' death in 2003.

I'm Proud of You is an intimate account of Rogers' human greatness, and a testament to the healing power of friendship. That transformative relationship and Tim's own experiences as a seeking and healing human being remain at the heart of his work. Tim will share his story of the enduring legacy left to us all by Fred Rogers virtually on February 17 at 6:30 pm. The Library will be giving away ten free signed copies of his book!

“The past year has been rough, but it has shown us the importance of kindness and community. People have come together like never before to share messages of hope, help their neighbors, share supplies, and create amazing things! We are so grateful to carry on that theme with this year’s One Book, One Community,” said Marianna DiGiacomo. “It’s astounding what can happen when a community comes together.”
