Summer is in Full Color!
We’re nearly four weeks into our Summer Challenge: reading and more!—and what a kickoff it’s been! Each of our locations brought the three C’s: Creativity, Color, and Community. In case you missed the fun, here’s a vibrant recap:
🎨 Both our DeHoff Memorial Branch and East Canton Branch had multicolored, magical events with performances by Doug Wilson’s More Fun Entertainment.
🎨 North Branch got artsy with group art displays and handmade summer journals.
🎨 Plain Community Branch brought the flair with slap bracelets, drawstring bags, and Color Our World buttons.
🎨 Perry Sippo Branch hosted crafts and activities inside, then a kaleidoscopic color run along the Storywalk Trail—the cheers and laughter of the kids in the community lit up the rainbow cloud stations.
🎨 Main Library hit all the right notes with a musical medley by EN-RICH-MENT, plus splatter painting, sidewalk chalk, and science fun.
🎨 Lake Community Branch turned sidewalks into art and patrons into Bob Ross with his selfie station, mural painting, windsocks, and bubbles.
🎨 Madge Youtz Branch stirred up calmness and creativity with sensory jars, mosaic cookies, and community mural fun.
🎨 Jackson Community Branch brought comics to life with their own Comic-Con: cosplay photo ops, comic upcycling, and a superhero training course.
🎨 Southgate embraced bright ideas with paper stained glass, a community mosaic, and fancified coloring pages.
Didn’t make it to Kickoff? No worries—there are still plenty of Summer Challenge-related fun ahead on the polychromatic horizon. Complete activities, join events, hunt down bookworms, and earn prizes—it’s all part of the Summer Challenge fun. Every activity gets you closer to Grand Prize raffle tickets for your selected age group’s drawing.
And we can’t forget about the Summer Challenge Finale! Bring your Golden Ticket to any branch at the end of the challenge for a FREE cup of Kona Ice. Check out our Finale Dates and Times.
