June paves the way for summer, and here at Stark Library, we’re ready to celebrate Pride Month, Juneteenth, and, of course, Summer Challenge: reading and more! Our Summer Challenge runs from June 2 to August 2, with plenty of fun events where we can Color Our World together.
Juneteenth is June 19, marking the date of emancipation for African Americans in the United States, and LGBTQ+ Pride is celebrated throughout the whole month of June LGBTQIA+ and Black communities.
Both Pride Month and Juneteenth brings attention to equal civil rights in different aspects. Our North Branch and Main Library locations are hosting Juneteenth events: a Movie & Discussion on June 17, and a Jazz-Infused Art Deco Rock Painting on June 21. As for Pride Month, there are book clubs and movies, open-mic poetry and crafts, and presentations from local LGBTQIA+ groups.
Our doors are open for learning, listening, and celebrating our community together.
