Tax Forms for Individuals
The Main Library has basic tax forms in the lobby during tax season. Throughout the year in the Reference Department, you can make copies of most tax forms from the notebook “Reproducible Federal Tax Forms” provided by the Internal Revenue Service, or from the set of notebooks “Federal Tax Forms” published by the Commerce Clearing House (CCH) Inc.
Librarians are not permitted to answer tax questions or suggest what forms to use. However, if you have trouble accessing these sources please contact the library by calling (330) 458-2754 or by email at Ask a Reference Librarian, or visit us in-person. A professional librarian will gladly assist you within the confines of the law.
For questions about federal taxes call the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) at 1-(800) 829-1040 or contact the local office at (330) 588-4417. The local IRS office is located at 201 Cleveland Avenue SW in Canton and is open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The office is closed for lunch between 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Federal tax forms can be requested by calling the IRS Forms Hotline at 1-(800) 829-3676 or by visiting the IRS website at www.irs.gov. You can check on your federal tax refund online at www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96596,00.html or by calling 1-(800) 829-1954.
For questions about state taxes call the Ohio Department of Taxation at 1-(800) 282-1780 or contact the Akron Taxpayer Service Center at 1-(800) 282-1780. The Center is located in the Akron Government Center, 161 S. High Street, Suite 501, Akron, OH 44308. State of Ohio tax forms can be requested by calling 1-(800) 282-1782 or by visiting the Ohio Department of Taxation’s website at http://.tax.ohio.gov. For questions about Canton city taxes contact the City of Canton Income Tax Department at (330) 430-7900. Their office is located at 424 Market Avenue North. The following Reference books about taxes may be of interest to you. Please keep in mind that these books can not be checked out of the library. However, you can examine the books in the library and make photocopies of the pages you need.
