First Friday Event: Bully with special performance by Elec Simon
Friday, October 3 • doors open at 6:00 pm (Family)
Musician Elec Simon brings his anti-bullying campaign to First Friday at the Palace Theatre. After the presentation, stay for the movie Bully. Presented in conjunction with the 2014 Canton Film Festival. The movie is rated PG-13.

Stark Kindness Kick-Off

Join us as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the One Book programs and learn more about this year’s selection, Wonder by R.J. Palacio with performances by the Canton Ballet, New Direction Performing Arts Academy, and the Young People Making It Big student choir from the Arts Academy at Summit.

Bullying-- Its Causes, Effects, and Solutions

Hear stories from a panel of professionals and community members including a former bully as they discuss the long-lasting effects of bullying. Roundtable discussion to follow.

The Masks We Wear
Wednesday, October 29 • 6:00 pm (Family)
Compassion. Hate. Love. Kindness. Words. Fun. Wonder. Invisibility. What does your mask say? Medical, educational, and mental health professionals will be on hand to address topics such as bullying, self-esteem, differences, and more. Children will have the opportunity to make a mask.

Louisville Public Library
On October 14 at 6:00 p.m., a Wonder-themed Teen Tuesday program will be held as part of Teen Read Week.
A video featuring Louisville community teens and tweens “choosing kind” will debut during at the One Book, One Community-Stark County book discussion at the Louisville Public Library on October 16 at 6 p.m. A link to the video will be available here after October 16.
Massillon Public Library
Choose Kindness Day Family Open House, in conjunction with One Book, One Community-Stark County, will be held on Saturday, October 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All are welcome at this free event. Attendees can sign the pledge to be kind to support the nation’s anti-bullying movement. Other activities include: make a bracelet or bookmark, enjoy surprise guests, make-and-take a card for someone special OR make-and-NOT-take a card for a veteran, pose for a photo at the Instagram station, make a ceramic tile coaster, make a miniature book craft, and contribute some "words to live by" on the Precept Wall. As part of Socktober, attendees are also invited to spread kindness by donating new socks that will be distributed to those in need.

30 Days of Wonder-Month of October
The North Canton Public Library joins many additional libraries in Stark County to explore “the wonder of Wonder” throughout October. This hopeful story has bridged generations, appealing to all ages, with its beautiful message encouraging kindness. The library will provide 30 consecutive days of programming beginning October1. We're excited to do our part to help advocate for kindness in Stark County.
Stark County Disctict Library Project Kindness
The Stark County District Libray will be having programs focusing on spreading kindness throuhgout the county. Make cards wth kind words, donate stuffed animals to area hospitals, collect personal items for those in need. Be the movement, see the change... #StarkKind
