Ways to Give:

The Foundation is a nonprofit, tax deductible, 501(c)(3) organization, and there are many ways to support it. You may make an outright gift by donating today, make a memorial gift, or you can take advantage of a variety of planned giving strategies.

A memorial gift can recognize or commemorate a person you especially care about. And, your charitable contribution can be designated for the purpose you wish.

Planned giving is deciding now on the future distribution of your assets. The most common method to do this is through a will. Contact your lawyer or financial planner for more information. Also consider a gift of property, stocks, or annuities as a means of signifying your commitment to the library’s future.

Giving Levels:

The giving clubs represent annual support of the foundation. Donors will be recognized in Foundation publications and receive gifts of appreciation.

Hawthorne Club $100 - $249

Dickinson Club $250 - $499

Poe Club $500 - $1,499

Alcott Club $1,500 - $2,499

Twain Club $2,500 - $4,999

Enduring Gift Levels:

One time or cumulative gifting circles represent a significant financial commitment to the foundation’s mission. Based upon their cumulative gifts, donors will receive special recognition through our website and list of donors, as well as gifts of appreciation.

Benefactors Circle $5,000 - $7,499

Leaders Circle $7,500 - $9,999

Founders Circle $10,000 and above

The Stark County District Library Foundation has a fiduciary responsibility to ensure that all gifts are used for the purposes intended by our donors. The Foundation is a responsible steward of your philanthropic contributions, and works to ensure the efficient use of private funds.

Your Donations at Work

In late 2000 the library received a substantial bequest from the E. Kathleen Smith Trust. Funds from the bequest were used for a variety of art-related projects, because Ms. Smith spent her career as an art teacher at Canton McKinley and the Canton Institute of Art. The most visible art funded by the Trust is "Enlightenment" which adorns the front entrance of the Main Library.

"Enlightenment" by local artist Don Lundstrom is an effort to define the Stark County District Library and its purpose, as well as to create a welcoming sense to those who pass through its entrance.
