The Stark County District Library wishes to encourage the use of library materials and to provide the best possible service to all the children of Stark County. To this end, Children’s Services of the Stark County District Library has established the following loan procedure for materials borrowed by schoolteachers and aides, home educators, and LRC technicians, to be used in the school setting and/or other learning environments.
Educators in nursery schools, day care centers, and preschools are also eligible for teacher loans.
Educator Card loan procedure for borrowing library materials is as follows:
Requests for Classroom Units. Please request classroom units from the library agency where you will pick them up either in person or by phone. You may also print the form from our website (www.starklibrary.org) to save time.
- AT LEAST ONE WEEK’S NOTICE IS REQUESTED. It is suggested that educators call as early as possible to secure a better selection of materials.
- Units will be held for one week from the pickup date and will then be returned to circulation.
- The number of books permitted for classroom units is at the discretion of the lending Branch/Department. Generally there are sufficient numbers of books to accommodate most classes. However, the number of books on any given subject, holiday, or a specific title may be limited in an effort to meet the needs of all patrons.
- Requests for "Lit Kits" of multiple copy sets should be booked through the Main Library Children’s Services Department (330.458.2641). This system operates on a first come, first serve basis. The "Lit Kits" circulate for six (6) weeks with no renewals, and can be sent to any Stark County District Library location for checkout.
Loans and Charges. Educators may borrow materials for six (6) weeks and Classroom collections may be renewed. A longer loan period, up to the length of the school year, may be requested with the understanding that titles may be recalled at the discretion of the library in response to patron demand.
- Fines are charged for all overdue materials.
- Every effort is made to avoid charging educators for replacement of lost or damaged materials. However, if more than three books per year are lost or damaged beyond repair, charges will be made for the fourth and each subsequent item.
- Full payment is required for any material costing over $40.00.
- Home educators will be held responsible for all materials.
- These privileges apply only to materials used in the classroom. Materials for personal use are to be checked out on personal cards. Regular library policies apply to these items.
Returns. Educators are asked to return materials in person on or before the due date at the lending agency. Unit boxes, which are provided and barcoded, are to be returned with the Classroom collection materials.
Card Information. Stark County District Library, Louisville Public Library and Massillon Public Library teacher’s cards may be used and renewed at any one of the participating libraries. The Educator Card must be renewed annually in September. A $1.00 fee will be charged for any lost or damaged card.
